GBA Experts Share Information at the Asbestos Forum in Essen
On November 21st and 22nd, 2019, the annual forum in the Haus der Technik in Essen will deal with the topics of asbestos and other hazardous materials in buildings and technical installations. This year as well, we will be sending our experts for environmental analysis to represent the GBA Group at this event.  more

The main topics of the 28th Asbestos Forum will be the current developments on hazardous materials in buildings in Germany and Switzerland, the harmonization of fundamental aspects of asbestos diagnostics or the BT method of asbestos removal. The two-day event is designed for both experts and laypeople who deal with the technical regulations for asbestos as a hazardous material (TRGS 519).

At this forum in Essen, Dr. Dominik Obeloer and Dr. Sven Unger from the GBA Group will be talking to people who are responsible for occupational safety, expert planners, employees from regulatory authorities, as well as waste management companies, construction and renovation appraisers, providing them with information about how they can benefit from the services offered by the GBA Environmental Division, in particular regarding asbestos and hazardous materials in buildings. The consulting and services of the GBA Group span the range from taking the samples to providing the analytical report.

You are welcome to arrange a personal meeting with one of our environmental specialists at the event in advance. Feel free to call us or send us an email:

GBA Wins Award for Being a “Highly Attractive Employer”
As part of the investigation titled “Germany’s Best Employers,” conducted by the German newspaper DIE WELT, in August GBA Gesellschaft für Bioanalytik was listed as one of 442 companies that are highly attractive places to work. This award is based on a nationwide survey of more than 600,000 German citizens carried out by a Cologne-based analytical institute called ServiceValue GmbH in cooperation with DIE WELT. A total of 1,333 companies were put to the test. more

Whether or not a company was listed depended on the ratio between the number of employees in the company and the size of the region (at least 100 employees in the smallest regions, at least 500 in the largest regions). The evaluation was differentiated between whether the company was known on a regional basis or a nationwide scale. Whereas companies that are known worldwide or nationwide, or at least represented at several locations, were assessed on a national scale, other companies that are mainly known locally were just assessed within their own region.

The focus was placed on the image and the attractiveness of the company as an employer. The image tells about the general atmosphere of the individual company and the attractiveness means the company’s appeal as a potential employer. The people who were surveyed were able to present their opinions on a scale of 1 (excellent) to 5 (poor). A scientifically credible, independent attestation to the quality was provided as a result of the unweighted mean value of all answers. The award “highly attractive employer” was granted to the 442 companies that received above-average results (2.96 or better). Furthermore, 299 companies within this group were able to demonstrate exceptionally good results (2,82 or better) and thus received the distinction “very highly attractive employer.”

We are pleased to announce that GBA Gesellschaft für Bioanalytik can once again be found among this distinguished group! Now our next goal is to become a very highly attractive employer.

Mineral Oil Hydrocarbons (MOSH/MOAH) in Food – “Once Every Year” or even more often…
This time it´s not (yet) the chocolate in the advent calendar in which residues of mineral oil were found. Only recently, infant milk powder / baby food (Foodwatch News 24th of October 2019) followed by vegan meat substitute products (ÖkoTest November 2019) showed residues of mineral oil. more

In the latest issue of the ÖkoTest magazine different vegan burgers, meat substitute products and plant-based patties were analysed. The results show, residues of mineral oil are found in nearly every second burger and every third burger contained GMO-traces. The test contains 18 different products.

The GBA Group has successfully carried out MOSH / MOAH analysis for several years using state-of-the-art analytical technology.
